1940’s Live Radio Broadcast

When the gates open at Victory Days on Friday morning, a 1940’s-style radio program will begin by broadcasting President Roosevelt’s Pearl Harbor address to the nation. The live broadcasting will continue throughout the weekend, ending on Sunday afternoon with the announcement of Victory in Japan.

Radio programming will be broadcast throughout the event area via public address speakers, and some segments will also be broadcast on an AM radio station along with being streamed on our website. There will be bleachers in front of the radio station for guests who want to spend time being part of a live studio audience. Witness how live broadcasts were conducted for that time in radio history. After regular event hours, old Lux Radio Theatre programs will be broadcast.

The live radio broadcasts will be produced by the Actors Theatre of Indiana (ATI), Central Indiana’s newest professional Equity theatre company. In 2005, Don Farrell, Judy Fitzgerald and Cynthia Collins, three seasoned New York-based theatre professionals, moved to Indianapolis to start an Equity Not-For-Profit Theatre Company. Their goal was to bring high quality entertainment to Central Indiana communities through a variety of programming that would appeal to everyone.

ATI is the recipient of the “RTV6 A-List Best Theatre Group in Indianapolis” and has garnered both critical praise and audience approval in its past seasons. Productions have included MY WAY: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra; Forever Plaid; Sisters of Swing: The Story of the Andrews Sisters; A Year With Frog & Toad;, The World Goes ‘Round; Beyond the Rainbow:The Judy Garland Story; The Taffetas; and many others.
